Biltree 600 Tablet is an anti-helminthic medication containing Praziquantel 600 mg, manufactured by Kachhela Medex Pvt. Ltd., India. Available as a strip of 4 film-coated, oblong tablets with three scores, it is a prescription-only treatment for parasitic worm infections. It targets schistosomiasis and liver fluke infections, killing worms to relieve symptoms and prevent complications.
Uses
- Treats schistosomiasis (snail fever or bilharzia) caused by Schistosoma worms
- Treats clonorchiasis and opisthorchiasis caused by liver flukes (Clonorchis sinensis, Opisthorchis viverrini)
- Manages other parasitic infections like tapeworm, cysticercosis, and hydatid disease (as prescribed)

- Common: Headache, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, dizziness, fever, itching
- Rare: Allergic reactions (hives, swelling), liver issues (yellow skin/eyes), abnormal heart rhythms, seizures Seek medical help for severe symptoms like chest pain, irregular heartbeat, or persistent side effects.
How to Use
- Dosage:
- Schistosomiasis: 20 mg/kg three times daily (4–6 hours apart) for 1 day
- Clonorchiasis/Opisthorchiasis: 25 mg/kg three times daily for 1 day
- Children ≥1 year: Same as adults, weight-based; not for children under 1
- Swallow whole with food and a full glass of water. Do not chew due to bitter taste. Tablets can be split (each segment = 150 mg) or crushed for children under 5, mixed with food/liquid, and used within 1 hour. Complete the full course.
- Overdose: Seek emergency help for rash, fever, or drowsiness.
How Tablet Works
Praziquantel paralyzes worms by increasing cell membrane permeability, causing muscle spasms and detachment from blood vessels. The worms die or are passed in stool, often disintegrated by the body, treating the infection. Effects start within hours.
Safety Advice
- Allergies: Avoid if allergic to Praziquantel or ingredients.
- Health Conditions: Contraindicated in ocular cysticercosis or with strong CYP3A inducers (e.g., rifampin). Use cautiously with liver, kidney, or heart issues, epilepsy, or cysticercosis.
